Venture Concept No. 1

·             Venture Concept

In this modern age people are struggling for things they really shouldn’t. We are living in a world where new problems become trivial due to technology. One example is the unavailability of a solution to keys getting locked inside cars. People waste time and money in more than one occasion just to solve this nuance. New technology exists to ease this struggle. There are thousands of people that struggle with this daily and would greatly benefit from this innovation.

Currently, the only solution for making sure that keys don’t get locked inside car doors is having a completely modern car, having spare keys, or calling a car service company for assistance. Everyone does not own new cars and spare keys, and the last is not the most pleasant experience. Regardless, calling a car service company is the most common. It is time consuming, annoying, and can be costly. Of course there’s no price you wouldn’t pay to unlock your car. But it’s unnecessary to have a person drive from somewhere that’s not necessarily close by to make your day better. Everyone who owns a car has to consider all these things to some degree. It’s only a matter of time until cars themselves will be built so that there’s no exception to why they will get locked without a way to being unlocked.

With technology always improving, there arises a perfect opportunity to fix this trifling vex. That’s why I want to introduce Major Key. It is the future. It not only will give you a better, easier, faster option to open a locked car, but it will also remove the consideration of this as a problem. Using a phone or tablet application and a separate device it will be able to unlock any car. That’s right, ANY car. The whole product is purchased on the app store/play store. After the purchase is made you will get a second device shipped to your home. Or you can buy the second device at major store and use the code that comes with it to link it to your phone application. The product will cost about $25. The second device will be synchronized with your car depending on the make and model. For older cars a mechanic will do the service since it’s probably all mechanical. After everything is properly installed, you can log into your app, identify yourself, and open your car as if you never lost the key.

Having to deal with a locked door is not something that everyone thinks about on the daily. Yet, when you have to think about it, it is one of the most annoying things you can experience. Major key fixes all these problems. It makes life easier for anyone who drives a car and for the people that are in the car while something like this happens. There is nothing like this in the market, my only concerns with the whole idea is car companies finally eliminating this ridiculous issue by implementing it in their technology themselves. People are way too busy these days, they should not be stifled my minor things like a locked car door. Why wouldn’t someone want to completely get rid of this potential problem. Those who have dealt with it previously will immediately understand the benefit. Switching to this service only takes an app download rather than a call to a toe truck or car service company. There will be a model that can adjust to anyone’s car. That’s the only way it will work. This will keep my company busy and successful since anyone can benefit from it. On top of that, as a true believer of excellent customer service ad interaction, I will assemble a team of hundreds of employees eventually that have a number one priority of solving problems with customers and being helpful to all. We are entirely dedicated to eliminate anything annoying and time consuming that is attached to locking your car keys inside your vehicle. Besides this, the fact that there is nothing similar to this product in the market is what will win everyone over.

This company, like I’ve mentioned previously, is the future. We plan to keep that trend. We’re not just stopping at vehicles, we’re interested in revolutionizing the way everything gets unlocked. Our biggest contender is homes. We want to make protecting you home a lot easier and even give you the option of  locking even after you leave your house. Other ideas I plan to explore include third party devices to include food service, and lingering minimal problems that when solved will revolutionize everything.

Week 11 Reading Reflection

READING FEEDBACK
Biggest surprise:
I really enjoyed reading, and learning how they go about the innovation. Usually that can be a very hazy topic with the only solution to it being just do it. But I was surprised at how well it was structured and described in the reading

Confusions:
Although, I already do a lot of reading on the topic, I started to consider the fact that it's contradicting to be systematic about something that implies breaking away from a system. But regardless I guess not just sticking to serendipitous ideas and coupling the to strategies is the way to go.

Questions:
I really do believe ideas can come from anywhere, but when brainstorming for new things wouldn't it be very time consuming to get feedback from a lot of people?
Is the strategy mentioned best for a specific type of company or can it really work with whatever you're organizing/ operating? (assuming it's not just companies)

Disagreements:
Nothing really, the author was spot on about this one!

Amazon Whisperer

THE FUTURE OF LOCKING SYSTEMS

Current means of revenue:
Right now, in my business concept, the way I would be making money is from the purchase of the app. Every time my app is purchased, a device for the car is also include in the purchase. You can also buy devices individually.

The Next Step:
I think to build off of what I started, I can start approaching different ways to have access to your home and other things (maybe even storage). Basically the same concept but a more convenient way to get inside your home and even check if it's locked.

About The Next Step:
The future for the company with this new edition would solidify a basis for which the company is a renown provider for similar type of products and make the business more of an industry. This would foster more trust in a company and would set me aside as one who specializes in things of the sort.

As Similar as it Gets:

The closest thing i can find that compares to my idea would be alternatives to unlocking your door. Specifically, finger print technology.  Although it's a great technology and very futuristic it barely has reviews or interest because it is very expensive and almost seems useless with the current ways we open our doors.

Reviews:
There are no reviews for the product. I'm sure many people find it interesting but it's not something you should be paying close to $200 for.

Changes:
My modification and improvement for the idea is making it easily available, easily installable, and the comfort of being able to operate when you're away.

Overview of the edition:
Like I already mentioned, it will solidify my place in the market, and establish my name as a company who is extremely innovative in that area.

My Unfair Advantage

Work Ethic
Social Network
Technology Experience
Social Capital
Expert Marketing
Market Design
Affordability
Customer Care
Simplicity
Exclusivity

Work Ethic- It is very comforting to see a company that works hard at what they do in order to ensure that their product actually pleases customers.
Social Network- An important aspect of a company is being able to be connected with it's people and having media marketing is really important.
Technological perfection - When you use a product like mine you need reliability. My experience and my network can ensure that the technology works properly.
Social Capital- The group of people that help me get my feedback for my product are very educated on there individuals field making for a great overall product
Expert Marketing- The skills and experience that I have acquired over time allow me to produce marketing that people can relate to.
Market Design- When you have to carry something like my product around you want the look to be pleasant. Which is one of the main things that makes apple succesful
Affordability- It has quality and it is also something that is not expensive
Customer Care- Because of my people skills my customer care is super
Simplicity- The app design and functions are easy to use
Exclusivity- No one else has thought of this universal type of unlocking device

I think my top resource is exclusivity because the fact that there is nothing like this in the market makes all other things a plus. Having something that no one else has is  an unfair advantage in itself

Week 10 Reading Reflection

1) I found the retained earning portion of the reading to be surprising. I finally understood that Retained Earnings has much more importance for the whole life of the company than just one year's time.

2)What confused me most was pro forma statements, at first I missed what they stood for and I kept reading still unsure.

3) I would ask about why they use the word pro forma statements and not projection. Also I would ask what the most effective way to balance your budget is, with an emphasis on the beginning.

4) I did not disagree with the author on anything.

Growing My Social Capital

1) Ryan is a student at the University. His major is computer science and he has made apps before and continues to make them.
2) Domain expert
3) I found Ryan because I am also a computer science Engineer. Although unlike me, many of the students in the major are normally very advanced into their studies. He was sitting next to me in class and we just had a casual conversation that led up to me networking.
4) We both can offer each other many different things. His main thing to offer is his ability and experience creating the apps. Where as mine is having a profitable idea. As i get more advanced in computer science I will be able to do what he's doing also.
5) Ryan is someone who knows what he's doing yet he's not someone who has officially declared a profession yet. Having him as a friend allows me to have someone to get feedback and information from and not drain my wallet or my time.

1) Jorge is also a student yet he's a student at FIU. He deals with iPhone issues and sells apple products and other things.
2) Supplier
3) A was home for the weekend and then found Jorge at his store where he repairs things.
4) Jorge enjoys having people that are very involved around him so i fill that void up for him while he sees my business. He, obviously, is someone that is a potential supplier to any technology i might need.
5) Including Jorge allows me to have someone with actual hardware type resources disposable to me
1) Jamie works at a car dealership and is around cars all the time and gets to witness newer technology inside cars every time.
2) Market Expert
3) I went to nearby dealership and just started to ask questions and we actually went to the same high school so we connected.
4) I offer Jamie a view on some things that cars can add to them so she can find some points to help her sell more and pitch idea to owners and other people she's connected to. While I benefit from learning about cars and how I can work with them.
5) Since my product will work with cars, having Jamie can get me up close and personal and help me fill any holes in my idea.
I think this experience will definitely benefit my future networking opportunities. I think this type of networking is constructive because everyone involved already has something they can provide for each other. In other instances, networking is not as targeted and finding someone who could useful to you can be a bit more difficult. But in this case I was able to find people pretty easily.

Elevator Pitch No. 3

1)

2)  I think the feedback from last pitch was fair. I think they brought up good points. I should have been more specific and I should address the safety of being able to use the device. They are things that if a presentation or pitch lacks, people will have questions or concerns.
3) I decided to be even more specific about my idea and how it would work. By being more specific I also addressed the safety of the idea.

Week 9 Reading Reflection

1) One of the biggest surprises to me in the reading was how much more there is to social media marketing. I understood the basics but I was surprised to find out how much demographics can shape what ads that person sees. Works out for both the seller and the buyer.
2) I think the naming of primary data and secondary data can throw you of a bit. you would think that you gather them in the order of importance but it's actually the opposite. But it makes sense because even in science when you try to solve a problem you start with what you know.
3) I would ask him if he thinks that social media marketing will completely take over and will lead until there is something better. I would also ask if he think's there's any downside to social media marketing. I would want to know because at the time he wrote this these questions are probably no as easily answered as now.
4) I did not disagree with anything. The author clearly has done his research because it matches a lot of what I know about marketing and he actually informed me some more

My Secret Sauce

1)
There are many things about myself that I take pride in and would be considered human capital. Here are some example:
1) My open-mindedness: I think this can be interpreted in more than one way. I am open-minded in the sense that i love taking information in and open minded because i accept all types of information. I think this makes me someone that people can always talk to and someone that you would want to have as a representative.
2) My story: I take a lot of pride in the fact that I was born in Cuba and am extremely lucky to be where I am. I think it shows my determination. My ambition for life and is paired well with how humble I consider myself. It would benefit any one who appreciates hard work and genuine people.
3) Humble: Being humble is not super unique but I still hold it to be indispensable. I think it makes me down to Earth and shows that life is not about making noise but about enjoying happiness and the noise of life. It sets me up to be a leader everywhere I go.
4) Curiosity: I will spend hours on something just to find an answer to a random question. Even if it has no "benefit" like being worth a grade or something.
I think this makes me someone who is good at advancing and making progress. You can't just stop at what you need to do. You have to do more than what you're asked.

5) Positive: I think my positive outlook on life and optimism is another great asset. It makes me someone ideal to be around. I like inspiring people, motivating people. It makes for great relationships with people and someone pleasant to work with.
2)

This is something Daniel has expressed in other ways. But he was very genuine about this and usually asks for advice with that sort of stuff that he thinks I'm good at.

I interviewed my brother as well because he is someone who's opinion I value
George: Hey Kevin
Me: He Georgie so what do you think is something that makes me unique
George: I think you're very smart, you have big plans, you're very optimistic and sure of yourself.
Me: Wow thanks George
George: And you're funny! sometimes i think you should be a comedian
ME: Haha thanks again but I don't know about that one.

My brother can be very tough on me sometime but I know it's cause he cares. This is not something I've heard from him before so I was very curious to find out even though I couldn't record it and had to call him. I appreciate the things he says.

Vero is a very honest person. I value what she has to say about me because I know that she means it.

Ryan is someone who doesn't really voice what is on his mind too much. To hear him say something nice like that really satisfies me because I get to know a little bit more about him just from him saying that

Lastly i interviewed my Dad just because i always love hearing what my parents have to say

Me: Hello father
Dad: Hey Kevin how's everything
Me: It's great. Can you answer something for me
Dad: Sure
Me: What do you think makes me unique and different
Dad: I think you're very good at many different things. You're good at school and you're also able to be very social and in life  I think you need both
Me: Aw dad thank you so much

I decided to Interview my dad because he is a very pensive man. He doesn't say things just to say them. He usually thinks about them for a while before he goes with an answer.

3)  I think everything that the people interviewed said was true. Not necessarily different from what I wrote but kind of stems off from the things I wrote. I think what the interview people said was spot on and probably summarizes me a little better. Yet what i said includes components of what they said. So i would not want to modify my post.

Idea Napkin No. 2

1) I am a visionary. I spend my days wondering what my contribution to society will be and how I will make a dent on the future and on history books many years from now. This business would serve as one of many ideas I plan to implement on the world through out my life. I plan to solve simple problems and advance humanity.
2) People occasionally make the mistake of locking their cars with keys inside the car still. We shouldn't have to stress about trifling things like that. I will save people's time and not make them stress in the chance that something like this happens to them. The idea I had in mind to specifically make this work is having a separate device that you can put in any car. That separate device takes input from a phone tablet that communicates to the car to unlock. Of course, you would have to keep this device in your car or transfer it to another car. Meaning, if you purchased it, it can be used for any car.
3) A great part about my idea is that it can help anyone who owns a car and even people who don't. Although it mostly helps those who do have a car, in the occasion that there is more than one person in a car that gets locked with no way of opening it, they will not have to waste time either.
4) This is a very frustrating thing the happens to people all the time. I would say even dozens of time a day in America. Money is already paid to insurance company for this simple service and they pay it more than once. With my product it would be a one time purchase and that would be the end of it. In fact, I might even offer it for free.
5) There is no product like this on the market, only cars that don't allow the car to lock if there is a key inside. Yet even so, sometime a key can get locked in the trunk of the car and that feature is obsolete. My product will be applicable to every car out there.
All these elements fit together. Overall, it is a product that will save people time and stress. It will be something very easy to use and there is nothing like it on the market. It is a sound idea. It has specifics that make it very implementable and easy to use. A simple device that will not add more stress to your life when you're trying to take away.

The feedback that i received was very helpful. A recurring topic in the comments was to be more specific with the idea. People are all for it and support my idea but they want to know a little more. I added more specific to the line that explains the product. I think after this modification people will not have trouble understanding the idea. People like the idea of saving time and simplicity so I included how my product would accomplish this. The majority of people that comment on my idea can easily see the applicability. This helped me verify that it really is useful for anyone so i emphasized it.
